Aizawl Auxiliary of the Bible Society of India attains its 40th Anniversary on June 01,
2018. Way back in 1957, two Branches, namely, Lungleh (Lunglei) and Aijal (Aizawl)
Branches were established under the then Assam Auxiliary (now Shillong Auxiliary). As
a ministry of the Bible Society was expanding in North East India, Aizawl Bible Society
Office was also opened on June 01, 1978 as Associate Auxiliary with Rev. C. Ronghinga
as its Auxiliary Secretary and then up-grated to full-fledged Auxiliary on February 26,
1983. Auxiliary Committee considered June 01, 2018 as the beginning of BSI ministry in
the present Auxiliary Area.
Mission Veng Presbyterian Church hosted the Jubilee celebration during June 01 to 03,
2018. One of the main features of the celebration of this Jubilee was laying the foundation
stone for the new Bible House by Pu Lal Thanhawla, Chief Minister of Mizoram near the
Governor’s Resident in the heart of the city. The Government donated the land and also
provided financial assistance for the project.
Auxiliary Youth Committee along with the host Church’s Youth Fellowship (KTP)
arranged Bible Exhibition in the Church’s Hall. Rev. C. Ronghinga, the first Auxiliary
inaugurated this attractive and helpful display of Bibles, translation materials and British
missionaries’ tools and instruments, etc., etc.
On Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon and Sunday night
special services were held at the host Church. Rev. Dr. K. Lalrinthanga, Auxiliary Vice
President, Rev. Dr. Vasant Renick, Sr. Auxiliary Secretary, Karnataka, Rev. Vanlalbela,
National Exe. Committee member, Lt. Col. Zothanmawia, Auxiliary Treasurer and our
Gen. Secretary Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko spoke on different topics basing on the theme,
“God’s Word: Living Hope for All’ during the celebration. Rev. Along Jamir, Rev.
Dr.Along Jamir, Associate Director (Shillong Translation Centre), Rev Phidolis Dkhar,
Shillong Auxiliary Secretary and Rev. Dr.K Rochill, Dimapur Auxiliary Secretary also
delivered greetings in these meetings.
To Commemorate the Celebration Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko released a music video
named “The Greatest Hits Vol. II prepared by the combined BESY Choir (1981 – 2017)
and the first Vice President of Assam Auxiliary Rev. Dr. C.L. Hminga also released the
Jubilee Souvenir called “RAHBI” (meaning Step).
Different Church Choirs, Shillong Auxiliary Standing Choir, Mrs. Christie and the BESY
Choir warmed the meetings with their lovely presentations.
